Rabobank optimistic on sugar outlook after partial decontrol

MUMBAI: Removal of levy sugar obligation and abolition of the quarterly release mechanism are expected to provide immediate relief to the sector which is burdened with USD 1.95 billion in sugarcane arrears, says a Rabobank report.

The next phase of sugar sector reforms on sugarcane pricing, to be decided by states individually, is unlikely to see any initiative until after the general election in 1H, 2014, the report on India’s sugar industry said.
