Sugar Research Australia Ltd’s (SRA) Interim Strategic Plan has been formally approved by The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Barnaby Joyce MP.
The plan details the company’s interim RD&E priorities and the outcomes it will deliver to its levy payers and other stakeholders by managing research that succeeds said Professor Alan Johnson AM, Chair, Research Funding Panel, SRA.
“The plan announces SRA’s vision and mission and forms the basis from which SRA will focus its internal research capacity on and evaluate funded research against,” said Professor Johnson.
“In particular, applications for postgraduate scholarships and research projects in our open funding round that address the industry priorities outlined in the plan will be considered highly.”
SRA will this month conclude its consultation program where it has collected levy payer and industry feedback about the interim RD&E priorities.
The feedback, collected through a series of regional forums, online survey and written submissions, will be used to refine the priorities outlined in the plan, to develop the longer-term 2013/4–2017/8
Strategic Plan.
“A robust conversation with levy payers, researchers and other participants of the sugar industry has occurred during the consultation process,” said Professor Johnson.
“This conversation will ensure that SRA’s future RD&E approach delivers research outcomes and practical advice that reflects our industry’s priorities.”
