Queensland Commodity Services (QCS), Mackay Sugar’s licensed commodity business, has partnered with Rural Training Queensland to offer cane growers a nationally recognised training course focussed on sugar pricing and risk management.

The course will be run, at no cost to participants, in Mackay, Mossman and Tablelands throughout March and April, with further information distributed to growers in the coming days.

QCS CEO Nick Waters said the course will enable growers to gain a greater understanding of the financial position of their farm business and the opportunities that forward pricing can provide.

“Upon completion of the course, growers will be able to confidently manage their own forward pricing and identify and manage risks that have the potential to influence their pricing.

“Participants will also receive a nationally recognised competency towards a Diploma of Agribusiness Management.

“This training is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government through its Industry Partnerships Strategy Program,” Mr Waters said.

QCS is based at Mackay Sugar’s Farleigh Mill. Growers wishing to contact QCS for further information can do so on 4953 8271 or via the QCS website at www.qcs.com.au.
